• "Bow ties" are used for celebrations such as birth, school entrance, graduation, employment, mid-year gifts, year-end gifts, and other occasions.
• The difference between 5-strand and 10-strand mizuhiki is that the 5-strand is a simple knot and is commonly used, while the 10-strand is a double knot made from the basic 5-strand, and is used for weddings as well as funerals.
